Safety
The Civil Air Patrol safety program applies the four principles of risk management (RM) as part of our safety culture.
For RM to be effective in CAP, these principles must be present 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and used by all staff and members in all tasks and activities.
The four principles of RM are:
- Accept no unnecessary risk.
- Make risk decisions at the appropriate level.
- Integrate RM into operations, activities and planning at all levels.
- Apply the process cyclically and continuously.
CAPR 160-1 paragraph 5.2.1.1 stipulates monthly safety training for all cadet and senior members.
The Scott Composite Squadron safety officer presents a monthly safety briefing at the second meeting of the month.
For those members who will miss the in-person briefing, you must complete safety training on your own through one of the many other options, such as eServices safety quizzes, listed in CAPR 160-1. See the attached guide to taking our online safety quizzes.
