Adult Member Candidates
- Complete FBI fingerprint card: FD Form 258, available from the Personnel officer.
- Not required for AE or Patron members
- Review the CAP Core Values and meet squadron membership board
- Submit membership application CAPF 12
- Cadet Sponsor members write "CADET SPONSOR" in red across the top of the CAPF 12
- Patron members write "PATRON MEMBER" in red across the top of the CAPF 12
- Provide proof of identification
- Passport; a military ID or driver’s license and social security card or birth certificate. See CAPR 39-2 Attachment 2 for a full list of acceptable forms of identification
- Provide a check or money order payable to “National Headquarters CAP”
- Active members - $65
- Aerospace Education Members - $35
- Cadet Sponsor - $30
- After the Personnel Officer reviews your completed membership application, the prospective member will mail the application, fingerprint card, and check or money order to: CAP-NHQ/PMM, 105 South Hansell Street, Maxwell AFB, AL 36112.
- Aerospace Education Members (AEM) may apply online or use a CAPF 13
- You will receive an automated email once your membership is processed.
- If you haven’t heard anything within a week of mailing your package or submitting your online application, you can contact CAP membership services at membershipservices@capnhq.gov or call them at 1-877-227-9142.
- Getting your fingerprints
- You can get your fingerprints for $25 (as of 1Sep20) from BioMetric Impressions in Belleville or Collinsville, IL. Pick up an FD-258 FBI fingerprint card with prefilled CAP information from the personnel officer.
- You can sometimes get your fingerprints done at your local law enforcement office for a fee.
- Due to COVID-19 municipal closures, be sure to call these agencies before attempting to get fingerprinted.
